I can read and write a bit in thai, but I prefer not, before I am more confident Wink

I would need some help from people who are good in Finnish, and of course, in Thai.

My goal is to create a free Finnish - Thai - Finnish dictionary. It will be freely downloadable etc. later. It will be a great tool for people teaching Thai to Finnish people in Finland. I have been chatting with my teacher in Finland and he has to do transliterating all manually Sad

So, now I am creating a tool, that transliterates Thai words, so Finnish people can read it.

The tool can be found from:

It is a bit ugly, but it's easy to use. Just copy and paste some thai words inside. I have been testing it with Thai poetry.

There still are many bugs, and I would need some help to locate/correct incorrect transliterations and incorrect splitting of words to syllables.

Just write something in thai to the box.. and click trans.. check if the text coming out is right Very Happy

For example สวัสดีคะคุณ will come out as

สวัสดี (sa - wat - dii) คะ (kha) คุณ (khun)

So..this will help Finnish people to read thai. It also has tone marks..but I can't write them here in the forum Sad

This can help for example teachers in Finland who are teaching Thai to Finnish people. Atleast my teacher was impressed by this Razz

But it still does many things wrong.. and I need someone to find some errors.. such as.. if "khun" comes out as "khen" or something stupid like that.. and about tones also. Very Happy

Well, I'm not an expert on thailanguage but I ได้นิดหน่อย Smile

. But anyway, I tested it with few words and found problem with this word:
เมฆ - Cloud (suom. pilvi), it give me this result: เมฆ ([เ] - mok). I believe it should be 'meek' (with falling tone).

Another problem is about tonemarks on transliteration. I cannot see "low-mark" with Firefox and Netscape, but it works fine on IE. And also it's difficult so see tonemark on some words ie. หมี ( http://wk.fi/thai/trans.php?w=%CB%C1%D5 ).

Here is example how I have done with tones:

Koodi:

Mid ( -mai )
Low ( _mai )
High ( +mai )
Rising ( /mai )
Falling ( \mai )

It's not fancy looking but it work on every characterset. Wink

But otherwise it looks fine and you should keep on working on it. spoko

Well you can try it like.. copy paste some poems from internet and see if you can read it write.. That is how I test it Wink

I know that there is no easy way to do it Rolling Eyes

, but at the moment it's just a cosmetic problem.

One bug I found in tonerule. Here is what I got:
ทด (thot) - falling tone. Should be high tone.
คุณ (khun) - high tone. Should be mid tone.
Could be more but this is what I found so far...

I changed transliteration output a bit.. now falling and rising tone marks are below the word. This allowed me using of Ä and Ö normally Razz
